Welcome! I’m so happy you’re here.

My name is Elmarie, and I’m thrilled to share my journey and passion for living an optimal life with you. Whether you’re seeking inspiration, practical tips, or a little bit of encouragement, you’re in the right place.

Let’s walk this path to a healthier, happier life together!

A bit about me:
I’m a trained philosopher with a deep curiosity about human behavior, and my passion for understanding the brain and body extends far beyond my professional life. It influences my daily efforts to optimize health and well-being. I’m also happily married, and our lively dog ensures that life in our household is never boring—he keeps me mentally and physically fit with his endless energy and surprises.

– MY STORY –

I’ve always had a bit of extra weight and wasn’t really into fitness. Stressful times would lead me to comfort eat, and after failing math in my final year of school, I hit a low point and gained 25kg in just three months. It took years before I could finally start shedding that weight.

My passion for health and wellness started back in 2014 when I became a Zumba instructor, and in 2016, I leveled up by becoming a STRONG Nation instructor. That same year, I participated in a life-changing fitness challenge that helped me lose 12kg and sparked a newfound passion for health and fitness. Soon after, I moved to Germany to start my PhD. Despite the challenges of adjusting to a new country, I managed to keep the weight off and dive even deeper into learning about wellness.

Eager to learn more, I pursued courses in fitness training, anatomy, and nutrition. As I progressed, I became fascinated with the science behind movement and health, constantly seeking to understand how our bodies work and how to best care for them.

By 2020, when I completed my PhD, I was in the best shape of my life—both mentally and physically. But that year brought tough times. I lost my mom, and the grief, combined with the upheaval of the pandemic, really took a toll on me.

Since then, life has been a whirlwind. In just four years, I met my husband, we moved in together, I took a job in Edinburgh that had me traveling weekly between countries, got another job back in Germany, got a dog, married my best friend, and bought a house. It’s been a lot, to say the least!

Now that we’ve finally settled down, I’ve been reflecting on where I am and what I want. These past few years have made me rethink my priorities, reminding me of the importance of family and finding a routine that genuinely makes me happy. That’s why I decided to start this blog and embark on my journey as a life coach. I’m excited to share what I’ve learned about behavior, the mind, and the body, and to continue improving my own fitness, health, and well-being along the way.

– MY MISSION-

Although philosophy and fitness might seem worlds apart, my training gives me a unique perspective on human behavior and health. It’s allowed me to explore not just the “what” of movement and nutrition but the “why” behind it all. With a Bachelor’s in Philosophy and Psychology, a Master’s in Cognitive Science, and a PhD in Philosophy of Mind and Cognitive Science, I’ve gained deep insights into human behavior and the mind-body connection. My training as a certified nutritionist and licensed fitness trainer further equips me to help others improve their health and fitness. Currently, I’m also training as a life coach.

My mission is to empower others to take control of their health and well-being through a holistic approach that blends fitness, nutrition, and the power of mindset. By providing actionable insights, evidence-based knowledge, and personal experiences, I aim to inspire and guide my readers toward building routines and environments that support their goals. I believe in the transformative potential of understanding both the body and the mind and am committed to helping my community achieve lasting wellness and fulfillment in all aspects of life.

On this blog, you can expect a wealth of tips, advice, and inspiration to support your health and wellness journey. I’ll be sharing practical strategies to help you build healthy routines, delicious recipes to nourish your body, and insightful workbooks to guide your personal growth. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, enhance your nutrition, or simply find more balance in life, this blog will be your go-to resource for living a healthier, happier life.
